These beautiful cocktails are a twist on the classic, infused with real blueberries and fresh lime juice. Blueberry margaritas are stunning drinks that are perfect for summer sipping, or for any pink-themed events such as Valentine's Day. Not to mention, they're delicious!
I used my blueberry salt to rim the glasses for this drink. It's very easy to make and so pretty. I love that extra little pink detail! But if you don't have the time, you can just use kosher salt or a coarse sea salt.
Ingredients
- Fresh blueberries
- Silver tequila
- Cointreau
- Freshly squeezed lime juice
- Agave syrup, or liquid stevia for sugar-free version
- Blueberry salt or coarse salt for rim
- Ice
See the recipe card below for quantities.
Instructions
Dip the edges of two glasses in agave syrup and then in blueberry salt (or another coarse salt) to rim them. Fill with ice then set aside.
Muddle the blueberries in a cocktail shaker.
Add tequila, Cointreau, the agave syrup or liquid stevia, and a few ice cubes. If you are using liquid stevia, I recommend starting with just a few small drops.
Shake the cocktail shaker vigorously for twenty seconds. Do a taste test now then add more sweetener as needed to your preference.
Strain the blueberry margaritas through a fine sieve into the prepared glasses.
Substitutions
You can use whichever sweetener you prefer in these blueberry margaritas; just make sure that you adjust according to the strength of sweetness.
- 1 oz simple syrup
- ½ oz agave syrup (about twice as sweet as simple syrup)
- a few drops of liquid stevia (about thirty times as sweet as simple syrup)
Variations
For another delicious variation of this cocktail, you should try my melon margarita that is infused with real honeydew melon and so refreshing.
Equipment
This cocktail requires a cocktail shaker, a muddler, and a fine sieve. You can find all of these pieces in this cocktail bar set that I myself use and love. You will also need rocks glasses for serving.

Notes
When buying liquid stevia, try to make sure you're getting the real thing and not one of the many stevia-blend products available on the market. My grocery store sells it in the health food baking ingredients section.

I can't wait to make these gorgeous drinks this weekend! We have Friday happy hour with our neighbours and it's our turn to make the cocktails. I know this one will impress!
Asha says
Thanks so much, Colleen. I hope they turned out great!
Bernice says
How gorgeous! I just want to reach right in and grab a glass. It is certainly worth the time to make the blueberry salt because the pretty rimmer really makes the drink. Cheers!
Asha says
Thank you, Bernice. Sometimes things are just worth the little bit of extra effort 🙂

Such a beautiful cocktail, Asha! I love that you've made this recipe sugar-free. My favourite sweetener is Monkfruit and it worked well in this drink!
Asha says
Thank you! Monkfruit is a great option. I'm glad it worked well for you.

this Blueberry Margaritas without sugar is the best! I was really trying to cut out sugar and all the restaurant and store bought is too sweet so this is perfect!
Asha says
Thanks! Yes I'm keeping an eye on the sugar cocktails this summer 👀
