The French word éclair translates to 'a bolt of lightning'. The famous pastry was named as such because it is said to be so delicious that it is eaten with the speed of a lightning bolt. I can say that I feel the same way about this shot. Made with just three ingredients, they somehow magically combine to make a delicious strawberry dessert in your mouth when it hits your taste buds.
Sometimes after a meal you're just too full to go for dessert, but still crave a little taste of something sweet. This is the perfect solution. I think this would be a really neat treat to serve guests at the end of a dinner party.
What I imagine I'm tasting as I drink this strawberry éclair shot..
How to make it
This drink is so easy to make. It is made with three equal parts of Frangelico hazelnut liqueur, strawberry liqueur (I use Giffard crème de fraise de bois), and freshly squeezed lime juice. Shake them together vigorously for about twenty seconds in a cocktail shaker with ice. Then strain them into a tall shot glass. It is a rather large shot, coming out to be two and a quarter ounces. So make sure that you use shot glasses that are large enough to handle this amount.
Origin of the strawberry éclair shot
All that I could find about the origin of this beverage is that it originated in Australia, in the nineties or perhaps earlier. Well, to whoever created this, thank you. ❤️🍓
Would you like to try another amazing dessert in the form of a shot? I recommend that you try the Italian biscuit shot - it tastes like biscotti! It also involves the use of Frangelico hazelnut liqueur, so if you have that you will be well on your way to being able to enjoy both of these sweet libations.Print
