Refreshing, tangy, and with the perfect blend of sweet and heat, this strawberry pineapple salsa is so awesome for summer, or maybe your next tiki-themed party. Juicy pineapple and strawberries are tossed with refreshing lime and cilantro, red onion, and spicy jalapeño. The result is bursting with summer flavour!
Aside from being delicious, this salsa is beautiful to serve. And you can completely adjust the heat to your preference by reducing or eliminating the jalapeño.
How to make strawberry pineapple salsa
First of all, I should mention that the pineapple in my salsa looks pink - because it is! I used a super juicy and sweet Pink Glow pineapple. But this recipe will be delicious if you use a regular yellow pineapple too! Whichever kind you use, dice your pineapple into small pieces.
Dice the strawberries into equally small pieces.
Finely dice the red onion. For this, I got to use one of my absolute favourite, time-saving kitchen tools: the Alligator chopper. This thing saves me so much time and onion tears! Four quick chops and you have conquered the onion into submission in the form of a perfect, neat dice.
Mince the jalapeño, chop the cilantro, and zest and juice the lime. Add all of the ingredients, except for the salt, into a bowl and gently mix them together.
Mix in some sea salt to taste. I love to use a fleur de sel for this recipe. Fleur de sel is a beautiful sea salt that is harvested as the salt crystals form a delicate and thin crust on the surface of water. It has a light and flaky texture.
I used this:
Serve the salsa topped with lime wedges and halved strawberries. Some tropical flowers make a beautiful addition as well.
Time to dig in and enjoy. Now, where's my margarita??
How to enjoy it
Enjoy this salsa with crunchy tortilla chips, as a garnish for your tacos, or served on top of grilled chicken or fish. It's so good that I found myself eating it straight out of the bowl with a fork.
